Hello!

I gather that you have landed here because someone you know has introduced you to this journal or you have found me while shopping around for a therapist/coach. Thank you for stopping by!

Start Here…Journal all began when I moved back to one of my childhood cities, Hong Kong, as an adult for the first time in 2011 and worked there for three enriching years. Prior to working in HK, my go-to suggestion to clients in NY was free-form journaling between sessions. I noticed quickly that the same suggestion was often met with a look between dread and fear, then followed by, “How or where do I start? Or show me the steps.” After tuning into my new environment more mindfully, I sensed a familiar level of stress that I had seen with my clients in NY, only it was rooted in new heights of perfectionism. They were already drowning in endless to-do lists and spiraling in bottomless “what-if” worries all while navigating social comparisons on and offline on top of normal life pressures. Nobody wanted more homework!

I wholeheartedly empathized with them, which motivated me to create the simplest guided journaling process I could imagine that is productive, fun, and empowering. One that offers a flexible structure with simple prompts that initiates process without spiraling, gently nudges you to take manageable actions and gives you full permission to find joy. Think of it as somewhere between a blank canvas and self-help workbook.

Since I returned to NYC, I have continued to share the process with my clients worldwide while refining it over the past decade with their honest and helpful feedback. As a result of following this global collective process, I made Start Here…Journal into a reality with the help of my friend and extraordinary NYC-based designer from Switzerland, Michael Felber. Now I want to share it with you.

As an homage to where the idea began, the eye-catching colors were inspired by Hong Kong’s hometown hero, Bruce Lee!

Enjoy,

Wendy
